Schlitterbahn will soon reopen its New Braunfels and Galveston waterparks for the summer to a select number of visitors, according to a statement from the company.

The waterparks will reopen beginning June 13 to season pass-holders only and will operate at limited capacity levels and hours. The parks will reopen to daily admission guests in the future, but a date has yet to be announced on when that may be.

Gov. Greg Abbott allowed Texas waterparks to reopen to the public at limited occupancy levels on May 29. State health protocols require parks to enhance cleaning protocols, enforce social distancing and ask guests to limit their group to no more than 10 people, among other guidelines.

Schlitterbahn is implementing several new health and safety guidelines in light of the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic, including a strict requirement for all guests and staff to wear face coverings and practice social distancing. The park has launched a new online system and is accepting online reservations only in an effort to follow and manage capacity guidelines issued by the state.

Other new guidelines require guests to complete a health screening and touch-less temperature check prior to entering the park; as well as enhanced cleaning protocols, deep sanitization of facilities and hand sanitizing stations that will be located throughout the parks.
