It is never too early to start planning your family's 2024 vacation. The Texas Hill Country is peppered with great sights and opportunities, and a national magazine agrees.
Forbes Advisor named Fredericksburg and Gruene/New Braunfels among the top travel places in the South as part of its 50 best places to travel in 2024.
"Located just one hour from San Antonio and 90 minutes from Austin, Fredericksburg is a burgeoning wine region in the Texas Hill Country," the report reads.
With over 60 wineries, vineyards, and wine-tasting rooms, Forbes says Fredericksburg is the perfect place to visit for a visit in 2024. It also isn't just a wine drinker's dream destination. Enchanted Rock, the granite dome that is one of the best places to see the rolling Texas Hill Country, is a short drive from the Texas wine capital.
Visitors will also want to hit Fredericksburg for the Ring of Fire eclipse in April. The Texas Hill Country is set to be a prime viewing area for the celestial event.
The other Texas spot Forbes celebrates was the Historic Gruene District in New Braunfels. The home of the iconic Gruene Hall, it's the place where many great country stars got their start.
"Pack your boots and grab a partner to join the lively dance floor where live music acts play daily," Forbes writes. "Music legends like George Strait, Willie Nelson, and Garth Brooks have graced the stage at Gruene Hall, and you never know if you might be listening to the next up-and-coming star."
After cracking a beer and listening to some bands play, it will be time to slow down and float on down the Guadalupe or Comal Rivers. If beating the punishing Texas heat sounds good to you, then visitors will want to come in October when the German festival Wurstfest takes 10 days to celebrate all things German, and sausage.
