New Braunfels has once again proven it's more than just a scenic stop in the Hill Country, it's a top-tier Texas destination. The booming city took home several Texas Travel Awards, recognizing its vibrant culture, deep-rooted heritage and diverse attractions.

“We are proud to receive such high honors from the Texas travel industry. These awards are reflective of the dedication and hard work of the New Braunfels hospitality industry—including lodging, attractions, organizations and businesses—who roll out the red carpet for visitors every day,” New Braunfels Convention & Visitors Bureau President Tanya Pence said in a news release.

The city brought home seven honors in the 2025 Texas Travel Awards. Out of 46 statewide categories, New Braunfels earned the most wins of any city in the Lone Star State.

The accolades span from favorite bars and restaurants to iconic traditions. The Comal River, famous for its spring-fed water and popular tube chute, drives thousands to the small town. The popular river was named the best outdoor activity in Texas.

The Gruene historic district took the statewide title of best shopping  district. Its unique mix of boutiques, live music and vintage Texas charm has made it a premier destination.

The city's vibrant monthly arts event, Art Haus, was named the best art festival. Hosted in downtown New Braunfels, the Art Haus features a curated selection of vendors showcasing their homemade jewelry, pottery, textiles and much more.

Sidecar at the historic Prince Solms Inn earned top bar honors for its crafted cocktails and speakeasy style. Plus, the city's beloved Wurstfest, a 10-day celebration to German culture, was recognized as the best food festival. The annual Gruene Music and Wine Fest was also honored as the best music festival.

Founded in 1845 by German settlers and located between San Antonio and Austin, New Braunfels has long blended old-time heritage with Hill Country adventure. And that history can be on full display at the highly-praised Sophienburg Museum and Archives, which took home the best museum in a big market.

Launched by the publishers of Austin Monthly and Texas Music, the Texas Travel Awards were created to celebrate the top attractions across the Lone Star State. Nearby Boerne also earned recognition with Cypress Grille taking the title of "Best Restaurant" in the small/mid-market category. Plano also earned the coveted "Destination of the Year" award for 2025, an honor that went to New Braunfels just last year.

Whether its floating the river, catching a show at the longest-running dance hall in Gruene, or savoring small plates and cocktails in the charming city, the city continues to prove it has something for everyone.
