
GRUENE, TEXAS – Texas Independence Day is honored at Gruene Hall, where Texas music and tradition have lived for generations. On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Gruene Hall and Lone Star Beer invite the public to a full day of free festivities featuring live music, armadillo races, iconic photo opportunities, and Texas-sized beer specials—all in celebration of the Lone Star State’s independent spirit.
“Texas Independence Day has long been an important tradition at Gruene Hall,” said Susie Molak, wife of late founder Pat Molak. “For generations, it’s been a gathering place for Texans, and we look forward to honoring that legacy with a day filled with great music, unique Texas traditions, and a strong sense of community.”

A fan-favorite tradition returns as armadillos take to the track for friendly competition and plenty of laughs from 3:00–6:00 p.m. in the Gruene Hall beer garden.

Local artisans, vendors, and nonprofits will be on hand offering authentic Texas-made goods and showcasing the talent and creativity of the community.
Iconic Photo Opportunities
Capture a true Texas moment with a live longhorn, or pose alongside an old-time chuck wagon set against the historic backdrop of Gruene Hall.
Beer Specials
In honor of 190 years of Texas Independence, enjoy 190 cent select domestic longnecks from 3:00 p.m. to close. These include Lone Star, Lone Star Light, Bud Light, Budweiser, Coors Banquet, Coors Light, Miller Lite & Yuengling.
